King Charles and Queen Camilla undertook a whirlwind three-day state visit to France last month, from September 19-21. The trip was the first state visit by a British monarch to France since 2014 and was widely advertised as an opportunity to strengthen ties between the two countries after Brexit.
It was also sandwiched between high-profile engagements from members of their own family: Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales. The result (some of which I discussed in Part I) was an overwhelming sense of not knowing where to look.
