With her every public appearance, much space in the royal fashion coverage sphere gets devoted to Kate Middleton's “evolving” style, which has noticeably shifted away from the rather twee, perpetually-bisiness casual aesthetic of the early 2000s (the girl loved an accessory) towards a more sleek and polished style.

These choices correlate not just with Meghan Markle bringing a fresh fashion ethos into the Palace (well-covered territory by now), but also with Kate’s own evolving role within the royal family. In the last few years of engagements, she has opted for bolder silhouettes, monochrome styling, and tailored suits that convey confidence and authority—a decided departure from some of the more whimsical, girlish styles she favored earlier in her royal life.
