Not following the royals until Kate came on the scene, I believed that they were well matched. Perhaps because of his childhood? parents divorce? and Diana’s untimely death? However, since Meghan came of the scene, that entire institution/family can be flushed down the drain for all I care. What is there to admire? Work ethic? Caring nature? You can overlook a lot when people are young and starting to create their lives but 20 years in and nothing impactful has been done. Everything about them is superficial, unattainable, and dull. But they have their fans. That’s nice for them.
I'd love to see a part two to this article on the challenges their PR has had to face in 14+ years re: How many homes do they have? How few engagements do they do? Do their charities get funds from this exposure? Haven't some collapsed due to lack of funds? Didn't Harry suggest William was not just nervous but miserable before his marriage?
I think that it was a love story on her side in the beginning, but I never believed that he truly loved her. The example of him walking away from the plane in the rain with an umbrella and Harry reminding him to go back for Kate is seared into my brain. I also noticed the shocking shift in body language around the time of the initial Rose rumours. I think now it is a business partnership that is a facade to keep the monarchy as strong as they can. No one wants William to follow in Charles’s footsteps in that regard.
