I am more than sad. I just can't believe this nightmare.

I know when I grit my teeth and pray before an election, things are not good. I agree with everything you say about why the country is psychologically and economically divided, that some people need certainty and security more than others, and many are suffering from economic hardship, because I am one of those people. The question is why do I admit the existential questions about inequality, misogyny, and climate change are real and must be dealt with head-one, and those who handed their agency over to an authority figure, so they don't have to confront the scary nature of modern life. It's impossible to tap into the reality of someone who lives in a different reality; there are no common frames of reference, and most importantly no desire to communicate on their part; I know because I have tried so many times to connect on some level and never been successful. I know now, regrettably, what it must have been like for a thinking person to live in Russia today or anytime really. You must have some idea, too, if your parents were afraid to express their political views. The only possible way forward is just to fight like hell.

I am glad that I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t shocked this morning. Disappointed? Yes. But, realistically, I’d have been more surprised if Kamala won for the reasons outlined here. Sage words from a young adult who represents the future of this country. Thank you.

Yep. My younger brother was in shock and it was the first time I’ve felt like an elder, able to tell him what I’ve seen and experienced.

One tiny sliver lining, we may have an opportunity to see the Princess Royal throw her unique brand of shade. 🔥

As a white woman from a similar area as you, I totally agree. White young men mostly need an alternative space. I’ve been yelled at before for this point of view because many people are tired trying to help men understand their feelings. I can get tired of it too, but we have too! Especially white men who have done the emotional work, they need to become the roll models and create guidance for them. The white community needs to start to build the bridges for conservatives so we can come together against fascism.

My heart is with the people of Ukraine and Poland. In a pre-election interview, Trump supporters were asked, "Harris or Putin?" The reply was typically, "Putin. He loves his country"

During my undergrad work, I took a history course about the American President's. Something that always stuck with me was the comment, "History shows that America gets the President they deserve for the time they lived in." I don't want to ponder what that means for us currently, but perhaps that is something we all need to reflect on as we are looking at another 4 years of a Trump presidency.

This is what my evangelical grandmother has told me, too. She believes it from a biblical perspective.

I know my professor, who was part of RFK's advance team in 1968, wasn't looking at it from the biblical perspective. He had been referring to the leadership before the Civil War, the string of presidents in the late 1800s, who allowed the industrial giants run amock, and then the folks from the 1920s who set up the environment for the stock market crash in 1929.

I thought we were ready for a female leader who was also a woman of Asian and African American descent, but clearly a convicted felon amongbother things was the "better choice" for the majority of folks. It is a very sad day to see how far we need to go still, but I have to hang on to hope that we can get there someday. But today, we truly showed the world, the US is not better than this.
