I just think it's nuts on both sides of it. On one side why not just take a real picture and post it with minor edits. Or on the other end, if you're going to heavily edit it, why not just do it right? Where is the quality control?! Haha it's not like they don't have the resources.

Excellent piece Amanda. Spot on. You and Meredith’s piece from last night take a slightly different approach but both are spot on analyses, straight forward no fluff. The Wales’ need a professional comms team. No more interns.

i think part of what contributed to this is that the palace doesn’t realize that not everyone (in fact most people), are hardcore royal watchers, and it majorly took them by surprise when the general public picked up on kate’s absence, even though there was an existing statement. they were *annoyed* that they had to put out another statement. i think a lot of them are also old farts who think that any questioning of kate or anyone else in the family immediately indicates disrespect simply because of their status, and while there have been some absolutely unnecessary comments, i think a lot of people were initially just genuinely curious.

Do you think a gaffe like this is indicative of a change in the Wales’s comms/PR team or are we seeing an ineptitude that has always been low lying but could previously be covered by the smoke and mirrors of feeding negative attention to Harry and Meghan? It feels like this time the conspiracy is too enticing and the clicks too easily counted by this story and Will and Kate’s team have run out of commensurate Sussex news to beg off the tabloid spotlight.
